The Lih–Wang permanent inequality toward the flat matrix

Submit a result

Let $\operatorname{per}$ be the permanent and $J_n$ the $n \times n$ matrix with every entry $1/n$, so that $\operatorname{per}(J_n) = n!/n^n$. Lih and Wang proved the inequality below for $n = 3$. For $n = 4$, Foregger proved it for $t_2 \le t \le 1$, where $t_2 \approx 0.6217$ is the least root of $106t^3 - 418t^2 + 465t - 153$.

Problem. Is $$\operatorname{per}\bigl(tJ_n + (1-t)A\bigr) \le t \operatorname{per}(J_n) + (1-t) \operatorname{per}(A)$$ for every $n \ge 3$, every doubly stochastic $A \in \mathbb{R}^{n \times n}$ and every $t \in [1/2, 1]$?
