Popa's tensor flip problem for II₁ factors
Let $R$ be the hyperfinite II$_1$ factor.
Problem. Let $M$ be a II$_1$ factor such that the flip $x \otimes y \mapsto y \otimes x$ is connected to the identity by a path in $\mathrm{Aut}(M \mathbin{\overline\otimes} M)$. Must $M \cong R$?
